QFF Incursion

I love supporting children's understanding and knowledge about the role that insects play in our environment and sustainable eco-systems.  Helping children make connections between what they eat, and how it grows is a wonderful privilege.

Together with Agriculture Victoria and Agribusiness Yarra Valley, we have developed a free online education program teaching children and communities about the Queensland Fruit Fly (QFF) and the impact that this has on the way we grow food in the Yarra Valley. Our school based QFF learning package is designed to assist educators and schools in raising awareness about what QFF is, what we can do to prevent it, and how to respond to a detection.

We have created a series of short videos and corresponding worksheets / activities that are simple to understand, and engaging with plenty of hands-on learning opportunities. Download the videos and attachements to get started in your own classroom and as always, if you need extra support or would like a face to face incursion facilitated, please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss options and fees for this. For more information about QFF, please check out the website fruitflyfreeyv.com.au

Your Say

“Holly’s Backyard Pantry has been a fantastic incursion for our kinder students. Holly’s friendly and approachable manner has encouraged every student to experience the life of bees first-hand. Meeting a real bee colony up close is such a unique experience and our students learn so much through this program.”
